Maranello drivers Kirsty Young and John Pike totally dominated both Formula Blue and Senior Rotax classes club over the weekend at GYG, leaving their rivals trailing in their wake.
In Senior Max Pike effortlessly lapped his RS10 all day at over 1.1 seconds per lap quicker than his rivals, storming the the 12 lap final to finish a whisker under 17 seconds ahead. Not to be outshone, Young, on her RS9 matched Pikes successes to secure a very comfortable win and prove that whatever the class, Maranello is the choice of champions.
Pike, who leads the GYG championship with maximum points after 5 rounds, has only praise for his RS10. “It’s great, we rarely need to adjust the kart at all, its just a very well developed chassis, wet or dry.”
“Maranello Karts must be the best kept secret, which can only be to my advantage, Wherever I go, RS9 or RS10, both are straight on the pace, the results speak for themselves.”
Proving his point at the May NKF round at Larkhall, Pike put his RS10 on pole position on a relatively unfamiliar track ahead of 38 other competitors including the British Open champion, Scottish A plate, and seeded no’s 3,4,5. Denied the chance of victory after being taken off on lap two of the final, Pike demonstrated exactly why he drives a Maranello with a stunning recovery from 15th over 8 laps to finish 8th.
