Gorman took the win in final 2 and second place in final 1 in very challenging conditions that meant the track changed from completely sodden to dry and grippy in as little as two and a half hours, several times on race day. It was dry at the start of final one but a big downpour meant that Gorman had to settle for second place behind karting veteran Bobby Game.

In final 2 the track had dried out with Gorman taking the lead at the first hairpin from Game, then went on to pull out a comfortable lead from the battling pack.

KGP drivers also on Maranellos include Fraser Wallace and Stephen Philip of Scottish Team LP Tent Motorsport who had their very impressive and roomy fold out awning at work. Philip got a strong 8th place finish in final 2 with Wallace in 11th. Denbighshire driver John Pike, had shown glimmers of rapid pace throughout the weekend, at one point in the heats he was in second place. Much more is to come from Pike, Philip and Wallace as this season develops.

Available to test will be the new 28/30mm RS12 chassis and the 30/32mm RS7. Also available to test is the 32mm RS10. Upon request any of the karts can be set up for KF2 or Euro Max with the Ven06 front brake system.

Also available to test will be the RS9-EVO which is a 2010 RS9 frame with 17mm stub axles and the VEN08 brake system. At £1920 including VAT the RS9-EVO is fantastic value considering it is simply a 2010 Maranello frame.

Denis Gorman continued his recent winning streak in KGP Super One by taking the top step of the podium in final 2 at Clay Pigeon and fastest lap. This followed a awesome performance in final 1 where Denis started from the back of the 24 kart grid and carved his way through the field to pass James Gornal in the final laps to take second place and finish behind Michael Simpson in what can best be described as a heroic drive.

Big thanks go to Gordon of GFR Engines for providing Denis with an absolute rocketship of a BMB engine.

Denis was driving the same Maranello RS9 LS on which he won the previous round at Larkhall in July and so closely missed out on second place in the first round of the championship at PF in March.

Stephen Philip has made steady progress this year in Super One since he switched to Maranello Kart. After some brilliant starts and a tough time in the heats Stephen managed to finish 11th. The 16 year old Scotsman is showing great potential in Super One and his experience racing at the sharp end in Formula Blue in recent years means Stephen is one of the latest generation of senior drivers in the championship who are well worth keeping an eye on.

Chassis tests of the Maranello RS9-LS are available at PF International on most Fridays and Saturdays and on Tuesdays if the track is not otherwise engaged. All drivers must now be members of Trent Valley Kart Club to test at PFI.

Chassis tests are also available at the Lincolnshire Kart Racing Clubs Fulbeck track on the third and fourth Saturdays of the month and testing is open to non-club members.

Chassis hire is available for club meetings at PFI or Fulbeck and at MSA Super One rounds.

Denis Gorman, driving the latest kart from Maranello, the RS9-LS, took the chequered flag in the grand final at Larkhall in style. Gorman had been on the pace all weekend, taking third and second places in the heat and pre-final respectively on Sunday after being fifth fastest in Saturday qualifying and also taking third position in heat one. The combination of Gorman and the RS9 LS have been showing great promise since second place in round one at PFI was cruelly snatched from him on the last lap of the grand final after a controversial incident which resulted in a DNF for Denis and a five place penalty for the other driver involved. Well done also goes to Stephen Philip who despite carburation gremlins achieved his first top ten Super One finish on his new RS9-LS. Well done also goes to long time Maranello Kart pilot Alan Young who came eleventh. Another member of the Young family, Kirsty, is a force to be reckoned with in Formula Blue also on a Maranello.

John Pike also won the Dragon Masters in Snr Max at Glan-Y-Gors in North Wales this weekend after a stressful time in the heats and in the paddock. Well done John and Chris.
